Young women and men bring fresh ideas, digital skills, and entrepreneurial energy needed to modernize agriculture. Their meaningful participation strengthens innovation, promotes gender equity, and ensures long-term food system resilience and workforce sustainability.
Many young people, particularly young women face limited access to land, finance, markets, and decision-making spaces. They may also encounter gender bias, inadequate training opportunities, and limited institutional support for agribusiness ventures. These barriers discourage participation and constrain innovation and inclusive growth in the sector.
By leveraging technology—like precision farming tools, mobile apps, renewable energy, and data-driven decision-making—youth can transform production, improve supply chains, and create new agribusiness models that boost productivity and sustainability.
PiLAF conducts research to understand the gender-specific challenges young people face and to identify emerging opportunities. Our outreach initiatives connect youth with mentors, networks, and resources that foster inclusion and collaboration. Through targeted training programs, we build skills in leadership, agribusiness management, digital agriculture, and sustainable technologies—empowering young women and men to lead transformative change in agriculture.
